Your school

TLG supports schools to support every child who struggles.

One in five children and young people - around 2.8 million- are experiencing a probable mental health condition. In the past year, over a million children were referred to CAMHS. Across the UK, children are struggling every day, in your school, in your classrooms.

The pressure on schools is significant. Poor mental health is one of the leading reasons children miss school. It’s a major barrier to learning, focus, behaviour, and relationships.

Staff see the impact but often don’t have the time, resources, or specialist support needed to meet the growing level of need. Too many teachers and school teams are left watching pupils struggle.

TLG exists to help bridge this gap. We work alongside schools to provide timely, consistent support for children and young people struggling emotionally or mentally, including those who cannot wait or do not qualify for help.

Together, we can make sure children don’t struggle alone.

Explore a partnership with TLG

We have huge numbers of children who are experiencing SEMH issues and who are in need of support. As a staff, we are trying to meet every possible need but we have some who we feel are far more complex and need higher levels of support than we can offer. - Head Teacher in East Yorkshire

Early Intervention

One coach, one child, one hour a week.

TLG Early Intervention supports children and young people across the UK who are struggling to cope in school. The effects of bullying, bereavement, family breakdown, poverty, mental health issues or wider health issues can have a huge impact on a child’s life and education. All over the UK, Early Intervention coaches are providing weekly 1:1 safe spaces for children to be heard and supported.

Therapeutic Hubs

Local spaces, professional care, lasting change.

Some children need more than a coach or a listening ear. For pupils who sit below the CAMHS threshold, or who qualify but face months and even years of waiting, a TLG Therapeutic Hub provides regular one-to-one counselling with professional trauma-informed practitioners – with clinical oversight and safeguarding protocols built in, providing support that’s embedded within your school team.

There are three ways your school can benefit:

  • Host a Therapeutic Hub in your school: TLG runs the hub within your school, usually for two days a week, bringing professional counsellors, a Family Champion to walk alongside families, and the systems needed to provide safe, high-quality therapeutic support for every child.

Our school hubs offer steady, term-by-term support for the pupils who need it most. Therapy can be shaped around your school, with one-to-one sessions, group work, or a blend of both. Support can also extend to parents, carers and school staff, helping care grow around the child and broadening the impact across your school community.

  • Commission a half-day outreach block: Offer the same help within your school by allowing a local TLG Hub to deliver three sessions a week (for a minimum of one term) for your pupils. You can prioritise the children most in need, tailoring the service to fit your school's needs.

  • Refer individual children to a local Therapeutic Hub: You can access support for pupils by referring them to a hub hosted by TLG partner churches near your school.

Whichever option best suits your school, you will receive professional, trauma-informed counselling for the children who need it most.

Why partner with TLG?

Professional in approach. Compassionate by nature.

TLG’s Early Intervention coaches and Therapeutic Counsellors are trauma-informed, professionally trained, and safeguarding-compliant. They are also genuinely caring – motivated by a belief that every child deserves to be seen, supported, and given the chance to thrive. This combination of professional know-how and deep-rooted care is what makes the difference. It’s what headteachers who have worked with TLG consistently tell us sets us apart.

An integrated approach benefitting both staff and pupils.

Our support is designed to fit seamlessly into your school, making it straightforward to access timely, therapeutic support – whether that’s as a Therapeutic Hub or an Early Intervention partner. Your staff will feel the difference – and so will your pupils.

The schools that partner with TLG don't look back.

We’re welcomed by schools up and down the country. Head teachers who see our impact become some of our strongest advocates. Children who were once a source of daily concern become better regulated, more engaged and settled in lessons, and more confident and hopeful about their futures. That’s why we exist – to make hope real for every child who struggles.
