Together Conference 2019!


We can't wait for you to join us! This year we'll be gathering at the beautiful Telford Hotel nestled in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. 

The summer holidays will be over, but there is no better way to ease our way back into the term than by spending two fun days away together at the start of September. Set in 170 acres of beautiful and tranquil countryside, the four star Telford Hotel has a host of luxury facilities you can enjoy. So whether you want to show off the swimming skills you honed on your holiday in Tenerife, or feel like sweating out any 'new term nerves' in the sauna, we hope you enjoy making the most of your time here.

TLG's Together Conference is an opportunity for us to say a HUGE thank you to you for the amazing part you are playing in changing the lives of children, young people and families. So have a great catch up, enjoy the fun activities, celebrate at our annual Staff Awards dinner and feel equipped and encouraged with our planned sessions during our time together.

Please note, this is a compulsary staff event. If you cannot attend, please get approval from your line manager and let us know as soon as possible.

Team activity

[Scottish accent] TLG, you will go on my first whistle...

This September, we will be battling it out for the champions' crown (and a bottle of bubbly) as we experience the glory of the classic TV game show Gladiator for ourselves! Whether you see yourself as the fearful Wolf, or the glamorous Jet, there will be a mix of team-based games for all abilities. 

Bring a change of comfortable clothing and trainers.

Getting there: 

By Car: (Please arrange car shares with your team).

The Telford Hotel is easy to find from the A442. Turn off at Brockton Roundabout onto Sutton Hill (by the Jet Petrol Station)  and take the first exit onto Sutton Way. Turn left onto Great Hay Drive - the hotel is at the end of the road.

By Rail: The Telford Hotel is 6 miles from Telford station. Please contact us if you require a lift from the station, or alternatively please arrange for a taxi to bring you to the venue.


Room allocation:

Due to increasing staff numbers, we will be allocating rooms and, where possible, will strive to pair you up with a member from your team or area. Please note, if you wish to book a single room, this will incur a charge of £50 per room booked.


What to bring


We are happy for you to 'come as you are' to the main conference sessions - this is a relaxed time spent together. We do also have a couple of fun events and activities however that you may prefer to bring extra clothing for:

Team activity on Thursday 6th: Please bring with you suitable outdoor clothing for this event as we will be on the playing field. Trainers and comfortable clothing (not jeans) will be fine.

Evening dinner & Staff Awards: This is a formal event, so let's dress to impress! (Think evening wedding reception). 


Food & Drink:

TLG and the venue will be providing all food and refreshments during our time together.


Pens and paper will also be provided should you require this during the conference sessions. 




Wednesday 4th September (Leaders' Residential, for managers only)

Arrive: 10.30am

Session one: 11am

Drinks reception, dinner and evening entertainment: 7.30pm

Thursday 5th September

Sessions begin: 9am


Thursday 5th September - Together conference (all staff)

Arrival and registration: 11am

Introductory session: 11.30am

Lunch: 12.30pm


Free time to use the hotel spa and facilities: 4pm

Drinks reception and dinner:  7pm

Staff awards! 8.30pm

Evening entertainment: 9.30pm


Friday 6th September (all staff)

Conference begins: 9:30am

Lunch: 12:45pm

Depart: 2pm

Please note: TLG's Together conference (Thursday 5th- Friday 6th) is a compulsory staff event. Managers are also expected to attend the Manger's Retreat on Wednesday 4th.

Please note: Room availability is limited as we have secured twin rooms for staff to share. Single room occupancy is not guaranteed and you will be expected to cover the cost for this if allocated.
